Hyde Park Bank

Exterior Improvements

This 10-story building, designed by noted architect K.M. Vitzthum in 1929, is located in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. This project provided an opportunity to bring design elements from the recently completed interior renovation into public view. The renovation included the lobby, an entry canopy, exterior signage, lighting, paving patterns at the entry, parkway planters and street furniture.

A frameless glass entry door system includes design elements from the interior renovation. A fritted glass and steel canopy, suspended from a steel beam, incorporates lighting for the archway and canopy. The cast bronze screen above the entry was also stabilized and cleaned.

Exterior storefront signage was restored to reflect the original historic design. Additional street-level signage, made from blades of acrylic, projecting from the building and illuminated at night, adds a pedestrian scale to the streetscape. Metal parkway planters and formal landscaping soften the facade and create an elegant entry to the building.
